RotorBlog.com: Essential Features of the New Facebook Home Page

much less control of information with the new face book. no less of/more of option for friends in the newsfeed, just yes or no. I don't like the highlights section because most of that stuff I am not interested in. It was perfectly fine in the live feed and I could look at it if I wanted to. Now it just clutters the page. I just try to ignore it. and I wish that there was log mode still. That way I would have an option of looking at something rather than all in your face. I think that overall I am getting less information about my friends/contacts. I also hate that my wall no longer has time/date stamps. And it is a pain to get things off the wall. you have to hold the left button down on your mouse and roll it over to the X otherwise the X disappears on you. the other thing is that the easy to look at groups search engine is no longer available and I haven't been able to figure out a way to find groups. and to add insult to injury, they may have changed the format but they sure didn't change the help section so it is useless to look in there for the answers. IMHO, they've made this much less user friendly. I am totally turned off and will stop trying to get my non FB friends interested unless something changes. I would like the option of the old one back. If Coca-cola can realize their mistake and offer both coke and coke classic then so can FaceBook. Maybe I should thank Mark Zuckerman. He's effectively cured me of my FB addiction with these changes. Too bad for the advertisers.

Aggravating that the pokes are waaaaay below all those highlights that I don't really care to see. Now I have to scroll down to check for pokes whereas before I could tell whether I'd been poked as soon as the page opened without having to search for it.

Hello. I tried that hide feature on a single frend just to see it work. Does anyone know how to in do that change? Thank you

I meant how do I 'un-do' the hide

Hello Jill....I have the same problem. I was viewing my wall and noticed the 'X' next to a post by a friend. When I moved the cursor over it, it brought up the 'Hide' option and so I hit it and all the post from that friend was gone from my wall and I cannot figure out how to get it back. I hope someone will let us know what to do.

Go down the very bottom of the newsfeed page it says "Hidden Friends" an "Show Hidden Posts" use those!

The new homepage is visually ugly. The update seems to be catered to avid Twitter or Facebook junkies. I think Facebook over-reached and will find out that casual users want Facebook to act like Facebook, not Twitter. Facebook should show more pride in its brand.

Thank you Jazza. Never looked at the bottom.

I could do without the HIGHLIGHTS, or at least the ability to filter it.

I am growing weary with FB overall...may be leading to my dropping it entirely.

I don't like the lack of control of information or the fact that I can't filter what shows up in highlights and recent activity feed. I don't care who took what quiz etc. I think we should be given the option to see only what we want. And remember back when you could choose to see more or less about a friend, I'd like that feature back also. For people that use FB as a true networking site this becomes pretty cumbersome and bloated. 2 thumbs down

I hid notications from one of my contacts in error. Now I don't get the little red flag with the number in it from her. How can I unhide her?

I completely agree that the new FB is much less addicting, and offers much less friend info, unless the user wants to go digging for the information. I spend much less time than previously with the old format, which maybe is not a bad thing, although it's disappointing.
