So what hosting package did you take? The funny thing is I have lately read some posts about the bad performance of MT's grid server and people moving away from MT for that reason.
I am also looking for a good and affordable host for my sites. And as you mention, the admin panels and service is also important. Even worth a few dollars more.

Yes, I have purchased Grid-Server, but with the plans to upgrade to dedicated-virtual if everything will went good.
When I was writing this comment and explaining my positive thoughts about MT they experienced some problems and when I pushed 'submit' I released that my blog is down..... ok, let's see - maybe it is too fast to make judgment!

I just moved a month ago... and I've been noticing a bit of latency and unavailability (Downtime) on the (gs)... but I talked to support yesterday and there is a major march 1st upgrade to the SQL and everything else that will fix it all... So I guess we gotta hang in there for a bit.

It is too fast to make judgment. The same i dod about Dreamhost.com last year, telling that this is a great service. Now I`m moving to Mediatemple too. But I`m not satisfied about my first week in MT - too long need to wait to get domains update, WordPress installation does not works at all, and some other problems. I hope someone form Mediatemple will see this comment, or... whaterever...
