Thanks for the heads up. I was using Tomato, but it didn't fit me really well. I ended up downloading torrents in Opera (which isn't exactly perfect, but simple enough)... I don\t torrent like crazy, but I use it now and than so I'm looking for something simple. I'm going for transmission.

at the beginning i was using Transmission but i really didn't like that i can't see detailed information about torrent. and now i'm happy Azureus (vuze version) user.

The ideal torrent client for me is one that sits on my server and waits for torrents I drop into a directory.

Transmission is meant to do this, but it isn't working how it's meant to. Might be just my set up.

@Joriks, you can bring up a detailed info panel on each client in the latest (maybe beta) version of transmission.

For a while XTorrent was great, so great I was happy to pay for Pro, but after a couple months it has gone downhill. It freezes randomly, causing a ForceQuit necessary, very frustrating on large files which then have to restart. I don't know why this is happening, but it is very frustrating.

All torrent clients act the exact same, what makes different torrents better or worse is the accessibility of the clients and all available settings. Full customization of torrent clients is what to look for when choosing a client. I haven't tried any clients for mac osx but for windows, wine and other UTorrent I found is the best client BUT only after customizing and changing settings. Azeurus is good for beginners but I've gotten the best speeds of around a STEADY 200-250 somethin kb / sec I've gotten spikes to like 400 but quickly drops and I've also gotten surges.. or spikes I dunno which is which but around 2 kb / sec thats pretty rare and if not many people seeding (bastards) Speeds with a 8mb connection. Also with any torrent, MAKE SURE DATA ENCRYPTION IS TURNED ON!!!! It's REALLY easy to be caught downloading games or music with torrents. With all clients, makes sure you refresh peer lists and clear bans frequently. Good luck...

Transmission is not as fast as Azureus on OSX. It kept freezing up on me. I would love to see a version of uTorrent for Macs. Never tried Xtorrent. I say Azureus is the way to go.

I'm also waiting for uTorrent for Mac OSX. uTorrent is really the best client ever, simple, and extremely smart with caching (doesn't write to the harddisk continuously, which is required when you're on a 100Mbit connection like I am). Anyway, untill uTorrent hasn't been ported properly yet....

Just Sad... Mac is all about good visualitions. Torrent programs are totally crap, and they wount want to stard downloading stuff you want. uTorrent is the best possible kind of torrent program you want. tomato,aquistic,x are all bullshit. Mac isnt so reliable when it comes to torrenting. Mac is over priced loser and there is nothing good about owning a macintosh fucker.

why then does the US military... yes the army so powerful that none on the planet would dare fuck with us... If the PC platform is so great, why does the entire United States and British military use APPLE made computers in almost all places a computer would be needed. Even the flight computer for the new F22 Raptor is MAC/RISC based hardware and software R educed I nstruction S et C mmand. In every one line of code on an apple, it does 1000 lines of code worth of excecutions on a PC CLONE. IBM doesn't even make pc's anymore... They got screwed by not lisensing there OS like Apple did.

Transmission works just fine. The latest update provides detailed torrent info and storm tracking.

As for Mr. YouAllLiveInALie!, hey; 1995 called. It wants it's platform war back. Get a life. This was an article that provided a product review for the Macintosh platform, not an excuse for you to try to resurrect one of the lamest platform arguments to ever hit the mainstream.

I code ruby on rails and iPhone applications and the only reason I ever USE a mac, is because my work bought it for me. I would never waste my money on this over priced piece of crap. I couldn't agree more 'ugh'. I will admit I'm still a Mac user, and I regret being brought up solely that way, but I really have trouble using a PC compared to how good I am with Macs now, so I routinely use Macs regardless...

But all in all, the flame wars are stupid, and just cause someone owns a particular OS doesn't make them any different, buying a Mac doesn't make you a rich, snobby, prick, nor does buying a PC immediately qualify you as a lowlife hobo. It's a simple matter of preference, its not life threatening decision, get the fuck over it.

I agree with Pleather to stress the fact that arguing about trivial things like this is preposterous.

I use three operating systems, the Mac OS, Windows OS and Linux OS and all of them are great.
-Mac for its simplicity and security for no viruses.
-Windows for its plethora of software and my familiarity with it.
-Linux for its user-defined aspect to it.

Just thought I'd throw it out there.

I am new to mac. I used Bittorrent on my PC and I downloaded it for mac but it doesn't seem to be working the same? Its telling me that my downloads for even small files will take hours. I never had this problem using the program on m PC it was actually very fast! Has anyone else had this problem?
I was thinking about just trying new torrent program but i really like bittorrent please HELP!
