How can one be sure that this idea works? Can it work, if there are so many backlinks on the same site? IÂ´m not rich enough to check it out....

There are many Google PageRank calculators in the Intrnet and the formula what google use to calculate your pagerank is also known - so you can use some calculator to see if it works for you.
